#89 - 9th July 2024 - Finally some music making... at least a little
In preparation of a tiny little guitar-only music session on Thursday, I took the Stratocaster for a run today... tonight.
First of all, I realized what I always realize when I'm picking up the guitar these days. I've had better days. As a guitarist I mean.
But the exercise for Thursday is really just a little finger picking, nothing fancy, nothing fast. So as long as I'm tune, all will be good :D
I've used the Morgan Amp Suite that I got in a NDSP sale last winter. NDSP makes the best guitar amp software, hands-down. And the Morgan Suite has that little AC20 that is supposed to mimic 60's British tone. They mean Vox AC30.
And I like myself a Vox AC30. Very much. First and foremost, Johnny Greenwood comes to mind when thinking AC30. Weird Fishes Arpeggi. In the deepest ocean, bottom of the sea...brilliant clean sound, brilliant masterpiece of a track. Easy top five all time favorite tracks of mine.
AC30 and Mesa Boogie Lonestar with some sort of single coil guitar is clean sound heaven to me. I had bought the Stratocaster in the picture in early 2022 in Ulm which is a bit further away from Munich. Strangely enough, Munich does not have a lot of guitar shops anymore and the ones that remain did not have a good range of Stratocasters.
I compared it against four other Strats they had in store and that had drawn my interest. Modern player something, Mexican made models, but no custom shop models. Not my price range.
The one I bought is what they call a 60's classic, American made.
Compared to this one, the rest seemed a bit pale. In fact, the only other guitar that came close was a Mexican made 60's classic with a name I don't recall. Vintera? I was never good at recalling all the different series' names. It's a Strat. Period.
So maybe it is the 60's vibe and the fact that I looked for that Chili Peppers sound and therefore was attracted to these two. Or the other more modern ones were simply fucking lame?
This one always gets some shit from a friend of mine who thinks it looks like grandpa's living room table. Well...he's not wrong.
