What sounds like the headline to describe your X feed without moderation, turns out to be also the correct description of two year old DR Pure Blues bass strings.
So yes, they did not age well. Just like presidents and presidential candidates.
The new set is Ernie Ball Regular Slinky. For the longest time I‘ve had those for my electric guitars and I was always quite happy with their value for money.
Changing strings also makes for a good opportunity to apply lemon oil to the roasted maple fretboard. And it‘s interesting to see how the wood darkens after doing so, gaining texture and looking more…fresh.
Other than that, a mastering engineer from Switzerland who recently acquired a TASCAM tape machine, asked in a WhatsApp group that I‘m part of if anybody had a mix that he could master.
I‘m done with the four mixes for Benjamin. And two Cursed Bunny tracks were also only mastered by me and therefore would benefit from a professional ear and hand. So I offered him to play around with it.
I‘m really curious to hear the effect of a real tape machine on tracks that I know inside out. Outperforming my own Ozone-based master should be a given as the guy seems to be a pro.
