#181 - 9th October 2024 - Live Mixer
I put it in my picture from yesterday already.
A more live oriented setup will need a bit more gear and in this setup, I‘ll want to route all devices through the Analog Heat+FX.
This and the fact that our Midas MR18 won‘t have enough inputs puts me in the position to consider a sub mixer.
A DJ mixer with enough channels could be a good option. But realistically, it offers a lot of things that I won‘t have enough hands to use. Filters, EQs, x-faders… also, the Analog Heat offers some of that already.
So to cut the requirements down to the bare minimum; all I really need is a summing device with a small foot print.
Now, CoPilot was kind enough to suggest the Zoom F6 and the SoundDevices MixPre. This in turn brought me to Tascam where I found the 4x4HR.
The latter being a classical Audio Interface with standalone capabilities. The first two are portable recording devices.
This in turn opens up an interesting side opportunity: live ambient recordings from (potential) live shows. Enticing.
It also comes with a caveat: The output section is not a core consideration in these devices. So it comes as a 3.5mm TRS output. Balanced 6.3mm or XLR would be the way to go in a live situation.
Tascam has 4x4 has DIN Midi.
Decisions…
