#179 - 7th October 2024 - Drone(?)

I got the fabulous idea to build a drone synth from my eurorack.

Limitation is key. But that's easier said than done.

After all, the entire existence of most people's exaggerated modular synthesizer setups is to not be limited and get every freakin' module your critical purchasing behavior desires.

I myself haven't bought a single module for more than a year. I'm kinda proud of that.

As for my drone synths. Here are some assumptions that will need verification:

a) Rings is brilliant for drone.

b) I need FX. Thinking of Beads.

c) Ghost would be brilliant as it offers so many things in one module: a filter, distortion, compression, delay, reverb. Sweet

d) I need modulation. Of course. Maths! Of course.

But now it gets tricky. A VCA? Sample & Hold? A gate trigger? A LPG? Rings already works like a LPG...in a way. Another voice? A MIDI module so the Prophet could trigger it live?
