#178 - 6th October 2024 - Sound Of Munich Now…

… was really good.

Three stages, 20+ bands, 15min each so if there‘s something you don’t like, it‘ll be over soon.

Surprisingly, there was predominantly band music. I had expected way more electronic music, synthesizers and drum computers.

That‘s just my bubble I guess.

Also, modeling amps are among us. You could spot and hear the occasional tube amp, but they were a minority. And when they were used, they weren’t allowed to kick ass - loudness wise. Kinda makes sense in a concept that gives you 15min time to set up your stage.

But even beyond that, I‘m quite certain that‘s how people would have played their guitars and basses. And the sound from the PA was mostly fine or even great.

The real downside comes from the absence of stage sound. It‘s weird to only have drums audible from the stage.

It makes me think whether it‘d be sensible to run a small PA in my back just to have stage sound when playing synths and such. Probably a bit idiotic. On the other hand, back in the 70‘s it was quite common to have Wurlitzer or Hammond players run their sound through an onstage speaker… hm 🤔

Oh and as the video shows: visuals are 50% of the game.
