#174 - 2nd October 2024 - Got time to spend? Get a Floyd Rose

I sort of knew what I was signing up for.

And eventually it‘s not thaaaat bad. And next time will be quicker.

But setting the guitar up took an hour - easily.

And with that experience it‘s official: Floyd Rose bridges are time thieves!

Old strings off, oil on the fret board, letting it marinade and removing the residue, new strings on, tuning and pulling strings to wear them in for 10min, realizing the bridge is way off because I changed the string gauge and the tuning, countering the effect by adjusting the spring holder, tuning 10min, realizing I overdid the adjustment and went way too far, going back in small increments with 1min of tuning in between with a lot if iterations, making minor adjustments to the intonation, changing Schaller strap locks, be done. 🥴😵‍💫

Floyd Rose loving people say the bridge would hold its tuning until eternity from this point onwards. I‘m just happy I only broke two strings in my entire life as a guitar player.
