#141 - 30th August 2024 - Max Rieger

Some people just have it in them.

The name Max Rieger is one that I keep on forgetting.

But again and again there are situations in which I hear something that tickles me enough so I need to know what it is and who made it.

This happened today when watching a Lars Eidinger documentary on Prime.

The music was consistently great. There were parts that sounded like a Radiohead b-side (that‘s meant to be a compliment). The haunting, unexpected progressions and minimalist focus on reduced great production.

What do the credits say?

Sound Production: Max Rieger.

So I google him and of course, it‘s the „Die Nerven“ guitarist and singer.

Also the guy who produced the production wise best Casper album.

Very tasty stuff, great sense for choosing and crafting the right sounds. There is much to learn from people like him.

So as a direct response, I played a few minutes with the Moog to reproduce one of the sounds he used in the film. Simple filter envelope sound. The Moog ladder filter isn‘t 100% that sound bit it got close enough.

So I can go to bed now.

There is producing and mixing to be done in the next days.
