#122 - 11th August 2024 - I took the day off

I took the day off because I really felt like I needed a break from work and from band stuff that began to feel like work.

So what does the modern brain do when it gets into idle mode? Yes, it contemplates about ways to consume shit. :D

In my case, I started thinking whether I should afford a "live guitar" for our rehearsals and playing live.

What constitutes a live guitar?

• the looks,
• reliability,
• replaceability,
• and affordability.

And that almost naturally brings us to Ibanez.

I don't have one, but I played entry level Ibanez electric, acoustic and bass guitars before. They never disappoint. In fact, they are really good - especially the basses I played were really convincing.

Another observation: At a guitar trade show in Mannheim last year, the booths were filled with >4k EUR guitars. Interestingly, for the evening shows, the apparent brand that you saw all the time was Ibanez. Not fancy custom shop stuff from American brands. Indonesian, and maybe a few Japanese Ibanez guitars.

So tonight, I looked into Ibanez guitars that would suit my requirements. A popping purple or even neon colors would be great. But white or silver/greyish could work as well.

A headless design would be interesting, just because it is still odd and goofy looking for most people. And preferably no Floyd Rose floating trem which can be a tad difficult with Ibanez. They really have a lot of those.

I did not manage to find THE INSTRUMENT yet, but it's also not urgent. For next week, my white Telecaster will do.
