Night and Day goes out tomorrow. In four different versions. There is the OG dancefloor pop version, a mono.mow remix that could be called "club remix" I guess, a sped up version and a slowed down version.
It's the first release that will get some promotion funding. Mostly because I'm interested to see if and how it works. I already started on Monday with a very short meta "conversion campaign" for which meta claims to have created 10k impressions with a conversion (clicking a link to a pre-save campaign) of about 330. I paid 0.13EUR per conversion which seems to be a solid metric.
Problem is: You can't really tell how many of these are bots. It's all Meta's numbers and you have to trust them. I thought running the bots to the pre-save page first, would be a solid check. Whatever comes out at the other end must be an actual person right?
2nd problem is: On paper, clicking a pre-save campaign link makes you a follower. However, the follower amount in my spotify artist profile did not change at all. But it also did not change when my GF joined as a follower - so maybe the counter is just delayed?
It's all very unreliable and difficult to get actual insights from this.
Maybe that's the reason why people say pre-save campaigns would suck.
So with tomorrow and the following days, the following is planned:
- Meta campaign to promote the music directly. One conversion campaign, one campaign to increase followers. I'd love to do A/B testing in both but need to check the price tag.
- TikTok channel goes live, initially without, later with promotion
- A trackstothemax boost for the remix version, because I think it's even more mainstream catchy and could work well with playlist owners.
- on 13th August, the youtube video for the remix will be released and this will be promoted via youtube promo
For now, I have decided against submithub and groover. Feedback on reddit is mixed, seems to be working for some, not so much for others. Right now, I'd like to try my own luck with setting up campaigns.
