Moving to Tidal had an interesting side effect. With a totally blank profile, no likes, no nothing, what is it that you listen to?

With an empty search bar gazing at you, your brain frantically searches for the things you really remember. Music you really enjoy?

In the past years, I‘ve had a bit of a schizophrenic listening behavior. I am and will always be an album person. But the artists I adore rarely release new things. At the same time there was the occasional discovery, a track that I really liked, but there was very rarely and entire album.

So when asked for input by Tidal, my brain went to auto-pilot.

Oceansize. Foo Fighters - In Your Honor. Jon Hopkins - Singularity. System of a Down - Toxicity. Rival Consoles - Odyssey/Sonne. Vessels - White Fields and Open Devices.

What a fvxking brilliant album. Release date? 2008!

I remember seeing them as opener for Oceansize in Dresden in 2009. Then again in Munich. I believe in 2012 but I don‘t really recall.

„We don‘t draw mistakes. We make happy accidents.“

I guess all I‘m trying to say is, good music does not get old. And I‘m naturally drawn to the old stuff when asked what it really is that I enjoy most.

Best newer album? In 2024 I think I go with Rabea Massaas‘s Grinding Gears Vol. 4.
